Rurban is a new plan from the previous plan of “PURA” which is profound by Thiru (Late) A.P.J Abdul Kalam, former President of India. The Rurban plan envisages to bring the upliftment of basis amenities and infrastructure on par with that of Urban areas. This is being implemented in Bahour & Thirunallur in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Regarding funding pattern out of 100 crores, 70 crores is drawn from the local fund such as MLA LAD, MPLAD, Grant & Own Fund of the respective bodies which is called Convergence. The remaining 30% is drawn from Central Government as Critical Gap Fund (CFG), Various Department likes Commune Panchayat, Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Tourism etc… have pursuing their respective Scheme of action under rurban. Likewise, the Commune Panchayat has initiated action in certain work viz. roads and drain, Bus Stand for Bahour through PWD, 10 Nos of Bus shelter in various places of Commune Panchayat, dewat plant, etc.
